Update from our Chair of Governors

26th November 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

We would like to formally welcome the parents and carers of our new Year 7 pupils. We hope your child has had a smooth transition from primary to secondary school.

As Chair of Governors, I would like to share some important updates about the Local Governing Body and the work we are undertaking to support the continued success of our school.

First, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Robert Danks, a Parent Governor, as our new Vice Chair of Governors. Mr Danks has been recently appointed by the Local Governing Body, and his experience and insight into the education sector will be invaluable in this leadership role.

We are also delighted to welcome Mr Fethi Fenniche as our new Staff Governor. Mr Fenniche has worked at the school for over 20 years, and we look forward to benefiting from his personal and professional expertise.

We would also like to share the current membership of our Local Governing Body:

  • Mrs Laura Jackson – Community Governor
  • Mrs Maria Watson – Community Governor
  • Mrs Jennifer Mavroleon – Community Governor
  • Mrs Louise Clarke – Parent Governor
  • Mr Steve Shearman – Staff Governor and Site Manager

Our Local Governing Body works towards the following vision and aims for Wrotham School:

  • To act as a key link between the academy, parents, and the local community
  • To support the work of the academy within the community
  • To support the Headteacher and Academy Leadership Team in developing and implementing the Academy Development Plan and other strategic plans, ensuring that the CET ethos remains at the heart of the academy community
  • To monitor the financial position of the school and its budget
  • To support the implementation of academy policies
  • To offer challenging, positive, and proactive support to the Headteacher
  • To regularly review the academy’s performance in relation to the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Our governors meet regularly with school leaders and have recently had opportunities to tour the school and observe teachers and support staff in action.

We remain committed to working in partnership with school leaders to ensure every student is given the opportunity to thrive academically and personally.

Our Parent Governor vacancies are currently filled, but we do have voluntary community and trust roles available. If you know anyone locally who may be interested in offering their expertise to the school or trust, please contact our clerk, Alex Blake, at ablake@wrotham.kent.sch.uk.

Thank you for your continued support. I wish all students, families, and staff a positive and successful year ahead.

Kind regards,

James Emmitt

Chair of Governors for Wrotham School
