Why work at Wrotham?

We are a pleasant semi- rural school just outside of London with good access to the capital via a mainline train service into Victoria. Unlike areas closer to the city, the local area provides more affordable house prices and rental as well as benefiting from beautiful local countryside.

Our students make excellent progress and are well behaved; this is made very clear in our Ofsted report from May 2015. We have a committed and highly appreciated staff team who are highly thought of by students and parents.

We are an academy but not part of an academy chain and whilst having high expectations of our teachers and leaders we have strong progression routes for middle and senior leadership; a supportive team of staff and we follow the “Burgundy Book” of teacher pay and conditions. We work closely with our teachers to ensure that unnecessary paperwork and admin are kept to a minimum and that a healthy and productive work life balance is maintained. We have an innovative programme of research based professional development opportunities that contributes to a 2 week October half term that has been very well received by our students, parents and staff.

We respect experience and excellence in our teachers and encourage experienced staff to apply for vacancies, we remunerate this accordingly. We offer an additional pay award for staff who perform at an outstanding level as part of our appraisal review process.

Most of all, we have an exceptional group of friendly and welcoming students who we are very proud of. Please contact us if you would like to discuss a career at Wrotham School and arrange a visit to see for yourself.

Volunteers Needed

Are you enthusiastic? Would you like the opportunity to work with a group pf young people?

Sometimes our students need activities which staff can’t offer, and outside activities at lunchtime is an example. We feel there are students who would really benefit from having a project to work on at lunchtimes with someone who could be a positive role model for them. We were thinking of a gardening project but are open to ideas as long as students are getting the opportunity to build, create or learn something that will make them feel positive about themselves. For you it will be an opportunity to meet new people and you will be supported by a strong pastoral team. You do not need any previous experience of working in schools but you will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for working with young people and pass a CRB check. Please contact us to express your interest at office@wrotham.kent.sch.uk or call 01732 884207 and ask for Mrs Hughes.
